The new proposal for the Sports hall, library and classrooms for the OŠ KSAVER ŠANDOR ĐALSKI was thought as a natural intervention, as a landscape-structured solution which unifies the outdoor and indoor spaces. Such landscape intervention is conceptualized as three main platforms that not only follow the natural configuration of the site but also respond to different programs and needs of the school.
The new sports hall was created as an extension of the site’s natural environment through the abstract composition of the façade, which at the same time works as the main structure. The same pattern becomes part of the main school square as it is continued horizontally on the ground and then vertically on the façade of the library. Such pattern becomes an interconnecting system within the school, as gesture to close and unify the different parts of the square. Finally, the new classrooms were thought as an extension of the original school layout and morphology, in order to maintain the organization of the building and affect as lees as possible the image towards the context.
