The architectural concept, form and spatial organization of the new Hotel Jadran is the result of the aim for protecting the value of the local architecture and beautiful Mediterranean context. Soft natural lines of the new architecture translate from the sensible surroundings of the sea and forest.
The existing hotel Jadran, build during the 2nd World War, was adapted to meet the new spatial needs though taking into account the spatial atmosphere of the 50s, which is remarked within the new project, using all the positive nostalgic elements throughout the interior and exterior design of the hotel. On the other hand, the new wing of the hotel represents a contemporary step towards the future of this touristic jewel.
The terraces of the hotel become a place for contemplation and leisure enjoying the local microclimate, smells and breeze of the Mediterranean Sea. Thus, the hotel (new wing) is conceived as an extension of the existing terraces forming different platforms, adapting to the topography and local vegetation.
Apart from the connection towards the natural context, the concept of the new hotel offers a few new elements within the interior space, such as: an “internal street” that crosses longitudinally the building, linking all the spaces along it and, on the vertical composition, the rooms and services are located on two volumes in a “pyramidal” shape, which penetrates the horizontal planes, opening the whole space for vertical communications, visual contact between the levels and natural light play.
